Short version
Budsmith does not collect, send or sell any data about you. It has no account, no analytics and no ads.
What the app does
It talks to your earbuds over Bluetooth to read and change their settings. To decide whether to pause your music, it looks at which apps on your Mac are playing sound (the app names only). None of this leaves your Mac.
The network
The app uses the internet only when you press Check for updates or download an update. It then contacts GitHub (api.github.com and github.com), which sees your IP address like any website would. Nothing about you or your earbuds is sent.
Diagnostic log
It is off by default. If you turn it on, it is saved only on your Mac, in ~/Library/Logs/Budsmith/. It holds the app and macOS version, what the earbuds reported (in or out of the ears, battery events), which apps were playing sound at that moment and what the app decided. It never holds Bluetooth addresses or the names of your other devices. You decide whether to copy it and send it to someone.
Permissions
Bluetooth to talk to the earbuds. Automation to ask Music and Spotify to pause and play. Accessibility only to press the Play/Pause key for what plays in a browser. You can refuse any of them; the matching feature then stays off.
